As with most great achievements, Sholom Park began as a vision, a vision born in the heart of Sidney Colen for a place that would be a source of inner peace for all who visit. After years of dreaming, in 1994 architectural plans for the park were developed and the vision began to take shape. Then, in 2001, horticulturist Steve Curl was brought in to oversee the design and construction of the park, whereby the vision gained its momentum…and life.
With peace as its mission, Sholom Park was designed to thrive in the Central Florida climate, requiring little or no watering above that which is provided by nature. Generous portion of native plants are combined with cultivated ornamentals, perennials, and annuals creating a very beautiful, harmonious landscape. |
Paved walkways meander throughout the park, winding through mature oaks, hickories, sweet gums, and long leaf pine trees, moving visitors from one special trail or feature to the next. These trails lead guests to explore the park. There are numerous benches upon which visiting guests may rest while contemplating ideas.
Sholom Park’s official grand opening and ribbon cutting occurred on October 17, 2004 and was attended by hundreds of friends and supporters of Sholom Park.
