Ginger Lily Garden Olive Tree Promenade at Sholom Park in Ocala, FL

Olive Tree Promenade

The new Olive Tree Promenade consists of 36 olive trees.  In Jewish tradition, 36 is a very symbolic number.  For in Judaism, the number 18 is a symbol for life.  It comes from the Hebrew letters Chet Yud, which form the word Chai meaning life. Thus, any multiple of 18, in this case two rows of 18 olive trees, symbolizes the continuation of life and importance of our lives. There is also the obvious biblical reference to the story of Noah and the olive branch of peace.  When you visit Sholom Park, you are encouraged to find your own symbolism in nature.  To look around and see the beauty, not just in what is apparent at first glance, but what can be seen within your heart and your soul.
